Squirmer Service was a Big Hit

What is a Squirmer Service? You know how sometimes you just can't sit still in church? A Squirmers service is for persons of all ages who want to worship but not just sit there!

St. Matthew's had their first SS on Sunday afternoon, March 2nd, 2008 at 4:30 pm. About 35 people of all ages attended. They made things to carry into the procession such as a candle, a book cover for the Bible and a complete altar hanging! They marched into and around the church to the song "Be Nice to Camels" (They were a caravan!)

They then acted out the story of the healing of the blind man in John 9. It was funny when Jesus had to spit in her hand to put mud in the man's eyes. (Oh, they pretended of course!) The story reminds us that Jesus is the light of the world and when we help others we are bringing his light to them. We sang "This Little Light of Mine" too!

They then gathered around the table for the meal. Jesus continued to give them his love in the bread and the wine. (grape juice for some).

Following the service they had pizza and heard from Chad Hershberger, the director of Camp Mount Luther in Mifflinburg, Pa. He described the programs of the camp and even said they had seen some camels in the woods there!!! Some families are going to send their kids to camp.

If anyone needs a SCHOLARSHIP to pay for camp, Pastor can help---- just ask him!

It was a fun afternoon. Some want to do it again. They never thought church could be so much fun!!!!!
